When we lost our original "babies", Buster and Biffa (at 14 and 12, respectively), both goldens, in 2005, we looked to the Rescue. We little thought that we could ever totally fill the void of their loss, but we wanted to give a home to needy dogs.
Boy, were we taught a thing or two! Far from OUR being the saviors, Bear and Bobby (Hershey and Erick in Rescue) saved us from becoming entrenched in maudlin thoughts, and we actually think they were sent by our other boys to let us know that it was O.K. to get on with our lives and have fun!
