Buster's Story

In May of 2007, Carole Cappellino called and said she had this old guy at her house that was a dog she had seen in and out of the Orange shelter for the past 4 years. She wanted to know if I was interested in giving him a forever home as his permanent foster due to his medical issues. She had said she was really attached to him and that if I did not take him she was going to keep him. Once he was out of her car it was instant love. He walked into my house greeting my dogs Duke and Chanel and said, "Hi, I am Buster what's for dinner and let's play!"

Carole and I saw how great the three of them got along and Buster moved in that day. Not more than 2 months later July 3rd I had to let my girl Chanel go to heaven at the age of 13. She was only 7 weeks old when I had adopted her and I was devastated and so was my other rescue Duke. Wouldn't you know with Buster's outgoing personality our loss was eased. Buster was the reason Duke and I got through that sadness. Just being around him made me smile and Duke heal.

He went from only being able to walk a block or so to walking almost the entire Dana Point Harbor and downtown Laguna Beach (of course it was not a fast walk).

Buster barked every morning to go on his walks and every night for his night walks. He enjoyed the park, the surf shop where they would have treats waiting for him and Duke and paying a visit to the guy that rented out Kayaks down at the Harbor. Buster was fortunate enough to go kayaking last summer and enjoy lazy days lying out on the grass with his family. Oh, he also had his first ever picture with Santa Claus and was very excited when Santa paid him a visit last year. His first ever Christmas picture was of he and Duke down at Aliso Beach down by the water with his Santa hat on.

As I write this I know Buster is looking down on us from heaven. He passed a week ago last Saturday with myself, Duke and Carol Cappellino by his side. He was a "character" and one of the best dogs I will ever own and I loved him very very much. Thank you Carole from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to have my in my life.

For those of you who wonder if and older dog is right for you just remember how much personality that have. Buster was a true joy and brought some much Personality LOVE. They give BACK so much to you!

Here are just a few pictures of the hundred's I took of Buster and his life. Even though I only had him 9 months he his days were full of fun and adventure.

I loved this dog so much that my heart still hearts and I want to thank Carole Cappellino from the bottom of my heart for allowing him to be part of my family.

Much Love To Buster Saenz,
Jolene & Duke Saenz
