Attached is a pic I took of our "Bruce" - I confess that I love to dress him up sometimes. He is wearing my mother's apron that she wore in the early 1960's. My nickname for him is "Babycakes."
We adopted Bruce - then named "Luke" from GRCGLA in 2001 when he was 3 years old - In July of this year he will turn a healthy 10. Two years ago he was operated on for removal of a Thyroid cancer by Dr. Dave Streeter - and treated with radioactive iodine at AVMI in Tustin, CA - two years later he is cancer-free. Bruce is also a therapy dog and visits assisted living homes. He is fortunate to have two homes - in the mountains of Big Bear and our home by the ocean and Los Angeles Harbor in San Pedro. He is extremely affectionate - lives for belly rubs and Frosty Paws and gives so much happiness to us. My sister passed away from Synovial Sarcoma two years ago and I will always remember how Bruce was so healing to her when she would visit him. When she had no hope, he was her light. When people come up to me and ask me "Where can I get a dog like Bruce? I refer them to GRCGLA. Thank you a thousand times over adopting Bruce was one of THE best major decisions we EVER made!
