Meet our beautiful 8-year-old girl, Dahlia!

Dahlia weighs 75 pounds and has a heartbreaking past—but thankfully, her story is now taking a much happier turn.

Back in June, Dahlia was one of dozens of animals seized during a large rescue operation in Rancho Santa Fe. The animals had been living in horrific conditions, and Dahlia arrived at the shelter severely underweight, with much of her fur missing and badly matted.

Her healing journey began at the shelter, where Dahlia quickly charmed the staff and volunteers. She was a wonderful girl who got along well with other dogs and patiently waited for someone to give her the second chance she deserved.

Finally, Dahlia was ready to leave—but she needed a rescue to step up. The shelter reached out to numerous rescues, and GRCGLA Rescue was the ONLY rescue that said yes.

Yes, Dahlia is not a purebred Golden Retriever. But she was a dog who needed us, and we knew we couldn't leave her behind.

And just look at her now! Dahlia is absolutely loving life in rescue. She enjoys her walks, feeling the grass beneath her paws, and simply experiencing all the little things she missed for so long. We are thrilled by the energy and spunk this senior girl has! She has a true zest for life and is ready to make up for lost time.

Now Dahlia is looking for a family who will love her, spoil her, and show her just how wonderful life can be.

A huge thank you to the shelter staff and volunteers who stepped in to save Dahlia and so many other animals from deplorable conditions. Because of you, these animals are finally on the road to the lives they deserve.

Dahlia is ready for her happily ever after.
