Goldie (adoption pending) and her 10 puppies are truly an amazing rescue story.
Goldie was heartbreakingly abandoned when her owners moved away. With no one to care for her, she began visiting the home of a kind neighbor in search of help. This compassionate family stepped in immediately—feeding Goldie and doing everything they could to keep her safe while they searched for a rescue to take her in.
Thankfully, they found us, and we didn’t hesitate to help. We knew time was critical, as Goldie was heavily pregnant. Unfortunately, before we could reach her, Goldie went into labor and delivered her 10 puppies overnight. It was bitterly cold, and without the vigilant, round-the-clock care this family provided, Goldie and her puppies would not have survived.
Early the next morning, our volunteers rushed to pick up Goldie and her newborn pups and transported them straight to our veterinary hospital. Our wonderful veterinarian, Dr. Snyder of Talega Animal Hospital, met us there—even though the hospital was closed that day—to immediately assess and care for Goldie and her babies.
We are happy to report that Goldie and all 10 puppies are doing very well. They are now safe, warm, and cozy inside, resting in a comfortable kennel with soft beds, receiving proper nutrition, medical care, and lots of love from the Talega Animal Hospital staff and our dedicated rescue volunteers.
The puppies will remain with Goldie until they are 8 weeks old, at which point they will be ready for their forever homes. We want to ensure everything is in place for them to transition into loving, committed homes that understand puppies are a lot of work and require time, patience, and training.
