Trooper

4 yrs old, male

Trooper the Magnificent (a.k.a. Trooper the Polar Bear)

Age: 4 years | Weight: ~100 lbs | Status: Available for Adoption

Hello, world. I’m Trooper—a big, ruggedly handsome guy with the heart of a lion and the spirit of a survivor. Some call me “Trooper the Magnificent.” Others go with “Trooper the Polar Bear.” Either way, I’m unforgettable.

Not long ago, I found myself in a shelter after my previous owners—yeah, the ones who should’ve come back for me—never did. Total letdown. While I waited for someone to do the right thing, I got into a scuffle with my kennelmate. Let me be clear: I did not start it. But I sure took the brunt of it.

The shelter staff were amazing. They patched me up, gave me love, and called in the kind folks at GRCGLA Rescue, who whisked me away to safety. That’s when my luck finally started to change.

I landed in a fancy vet clinic—real bougie stuff—with my own private suite, soft beds, and daily walks with awesome volunteers. It was basically a spa retreat… until they neutered me. Rude, right? But I’ve come to terms with it. Honestly, it’s made me even more distinguished and mature. Think George Clooney, but with more fur.

Now I’m ready for the next chapter: my forever home.

Look, I’m not your typical sunshine-and-butterflies golden. I’ve had a rough ride, and I’ve got a few scars—inside and out. But I’ve come out stronger, smarter, and more loyal than ever. If you’re someone who’s faced tough times and come out swinging, then maybe we’re made for each other.

I love long walks, hikes, camping, and any kind of adventure. I’ll be your ride-or-die, your co-pilot, your best friend. You just need to accept me as I am—flaws and all.

If you’re looking for a perfect dog, keep scrolling.

But if you’re looking for a real one, I’m right here waiting.

Our boy is now in a lovely foster home and doing fantastic!  He is proving to be a very good house guest with good manners and is also just fine when left on his own while his foster mom is at work. Trooper will need to go to a dog savvy home without other dogs.   His past experience in the shelter has made him a bit wary so we also have a wonderful trainer who is working with Trooper and his foster mom.  This is a wonderful gift for not only Trooper but whoever adopts him.  His new owner will be able to meet with Trooper and the trainer to learn all about Trooper and what he has been trained on to ensure a successful transition into his forever home.  It’s a win win!
