Meet Kenzie

Meet our lovely 15 month old golden gal, Kenzie. Kenzie is a diabetic. She was at a local vet office and her owner was not able to pay the raising bills for specialized tests and continued care.  GRCGLARescue was asked if we would be able to help Kenzie. Needless to say GRCGLARescue stepped up.  The previous owner did not want to care for a diabetic dog even after she would be stabilized on her medications.  We accepted the task to make Kenzie well.  She weighed 19 pounds and needed several more tests and medication to stabilize her.

Kenzie has been in our care for the past 2 weeks and has been receiving excellent medical care to manage her diabetes. Since her diagnosis and treatment, she has put on several pounds and she needs to put on several more. Her appetite is excellent but proper nutrition for her is a must.  She has gained weight and currently weighs 26 pounds.

She will require lifelong insulin shots 2 times a day.  We are continuing to fine tune her treatment to know exactly what her needs and medication dosage will be.

Check back for updates on Kenzie’s health and progress.
